Open Evening Information

Due to the covid-19 pandemic we are currently unable to run the usual face-to-face events, but we do have a range of options to help you find out more about the school.

You can watch our Digital Open Evening from last year to find out more about the school- an updated version will follow. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch (

Open Evenings and Taster Days

Due to the current situation we will follow a different format- but we will cover all you would normally get, and more, from an Open Evening. This will give you all you need to know for you to make the decision whether we are the Sixth Form you would like to join in September.

1. Open Evening Live Presentation

Headteacher Damian Haigh and Assistant Headteacher David Hemsley will go through the mission of the school and what type of student would greatly benefit from the curriculum we offer. At the end there will be a chance to ask any questions.

Join our next online open evening presentation

Wednesday November 11th – 7-8pm

Other dates to follow

2. School Prospectus

A summary of all we offer and what our subjects could lead to for you. It also details how we offer a totally immersive experience for motivated students with an interest in Maths, with a University feel on campus- and all without a fee to pay. The prospectus will be updated to the 2021 version soon.

3. An Introduction to University of Liverpool Maths School Online

Staff and students talk about what is offered at Liverpool Maths School with the backdrop of students through a normal day at the Maths School. This goes live as part of our first Open Evening event on Wednesday 21st October at 4.45pm.

4. A tour of the school by students- Virtual

A tour of the school on a normal day from students showing the current facilities in the Sir Alastair Pilkington building which is our home until we move to our purpose built building in September 2022. This goes live as part of our first Open Evening event on Wednesday 21st October at 5.15pm

5. A tour of the school by the Headteacher or Assistant Headteacher- In person

We can offer 25 minute tours for household groups on site. The videos we will post should give you a very good idea of the facilities, but we are happy to show you in person if preferred. We will update you regarding the current guidance and procedures before your visit to ensure everyone stays safe. These tours are by appointment only and will be at the following times:

4.45pm, 5.15pm or 5.45pm Monday-Thursday, or 3.45pm on a Friday.

Bring your family for an exclusive school tour and a chat

6. Taster Day

Within the current restrictions travel for education is still allowed, and students still need to consider their next steps beyond year 11.  We can still offer taster sessions but due to students most likely not coming from a single bubble we will have to keep students 2m apart. We will offer taster sessions at the much reduced number per group with all the appropriate precautions in place as you might expect. We think it is important to let the students see how our staff deliver lessons in person, again to see if this is the school they would like to join in.  We may have to reschedule or change these to online events nearer the time if circumstances require.
